Vasant Shala
|
Vasant Shala is project run in the Adivasi Academy, significant project of Bhasha Research and Publication Center. Vasant Shala is informal school, or rather training center for children of local adivasi communities, who have dropped out the school or never have been attending school. In the area of Chhotaudepur and other rural parts of Gujarat, there is high rate of drop out kids, because of language barriers (language of instruction in primary schools is Gujarati, and the majority of local tribal communities speak their own language, like Rathvi, Bhili, Dungrabhili, etc.) and seasonal migrations of adivasi for the work in the cities or different habitat, then is theirs. The goal of Vasant Shala is to prepare those kids in age between 8-12, for admission to the Gujarati medium schools, so they can be educated. So Vasant Shala is the training center for children of local adivasi communities introducing multilingual model of education, which creates alternative, experimental and save environment for these kids to comfortably study and interact from the beginning in their mother tongue.
